Known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills" Rwanda is renowned for its breathtaking and diverse natural beauty. Our cycling adventure takes you through this tiny country's rolling landscapes in the shadow of volcanic mountain ranges, past small farming villages, through lush tea plantations, and along the serene shores of Rift Valley lakes. You will experience a mix of the cultural richness of Rwanda, its people's hospitality, and its wildlife treasures.
Over the past 20 years Rwandans have worked hard to rebuild and restore their country. On the first day of the tour you will visit the Genocide Memorial, certainly a very somber place, but we hope that when taken in context with your overall experience here your lasting impression will be of hope and optimism for the resilience of the human spirit.

Although Rwanda is near the equator, its relatively higher altitude provides much of the country with a pleasant, tropical climate. The driest season is from June to August and rains are most frequent during April and May.

The terrain of central and western Rwanda is dominated by rolling hills. Most of the country is about 1,500 meters (5,000 feet). Although Rwanda has a good network of paved roads, our tours opt for the dirt packed roads that connect many of the villages and have far less vehicular traffic. About 10% of the tour is on paved roads.

In addition to cycling guides, the tour is accompanied by a support vehicle with a mechanic, commonly needed spare parts, and standard first aid equipment.
We provide mountain bikes made by Trek, Performance, and Scott that are suitable for riding on rough and uneven terrain. We have a limited number of eBikes also designed for rough terrain.
We use safe, comfortable, standard level accommodations that we believe will give our clients the best value and also enhance their overall "Rwandan" experience.

Extend your tour in Akagera National Park
- Managed by the renowned "African Parks" non-profit conservation organisation, Akagera is the only place in Rwanda to see the "Big Five": elephants, lions, buffalos, leopards, and rhinos. Frequently seen are zebras, antelopes, monkeys, hippos, giraffes, and a tremendous variety of birds.
- The 1,120 square kilometer park lies along the border with Tanzania, a region of open savanna and wetlands.
- The park is only 100 kilometers from Kigali and can be explored in a visit of 2 to 3 days.
- Contact us about extending your tour with an excursion to Akagera (note this excursion does not involve cycling.)
